I think it's also been tried to link Sanskrit Simha "lion" and Armenian indj "leopard"

I've found one such word in Cyril Babaev's Luwian glossary: walwa- 'lion' (no source reference given). The suggested connection with "IE *lew-" is scarcely convincing (even PIE *wlkWo- 'wolf' would be a far better match); in fact, this lone Luwian word admits of any number of reasonable-looking etymological interpretations, which simply means that it doesn't provide sufficient ground for reconstructing a hypothetical Proto-Anatolian or PIE form.

Does anyone know if there's a Hittite or Luwian word for 'lion' (I mean, in non-ideographic spelling)? I remember references to an article where a Lydian 'lion' word was tentatively proposed, but I can't recall the word itself.
