Hmm, Joao, Ulysses is the Latin version of the name. Wasn't he called Odusseus/Odu:seus in Homer? It's true that Greek variants with l for d also occurred: Oulikseus , Oulikse:s, O(:)lus(s)eus, Olut(t)eus and Oliseus -- but I can't see how you could plausibly connect any of them with Celtic Lug (whose name, in addition to IE *leugH-, as suggested by Chris, has also been connected with German locken 'allure' and further, rather speculatively, with Scandinavian Loki).
