>Cyril Babaev speaks about the word Tiwaz meaning Sun

>ethymologically equivalent to JUPITER, DAIPATURES, ZEUS, DIEVS,
>DYAUS?
I don't know about this Luwian "tiwaz" but I do know of the Etruscan god Tin
"Day" and the word /tiur/ "moon". As I keep on saying, IndoTyrrhenian *t:
regularly becomes IE *d and Etruscan /t/ so these words probably go back to
a verb *t:ei- "to shine", which survives in IE.
If I understand right, though, Tin is associated with Jupiter. Hmm, could it
be that the thunder god was originally a sun goddess... Just thinking out
loud again. Nevermind, carry on.
