That's a very well-written article.
Some points and thoughts:
The mitochondrial evidence shows female migration patterns, while
The nuclear evidence shows gender-independent migration patterns.
Get-rich-quick type migrations have tended to be all male, while
Settler type migrations have tended to have a more balanced gender
distribution.
The mitochondrial numbers show that the number of females was
relatively small, suggesting that only a small number of settlers
were involved.
Hence, the discrepancy with the nuclear numbers must be made up by
male migrations.
However, note that a small number of males can effect a relatively
large change in nuclear gene distributions, especially when not
hampered by the formalities of marriage.
