Books for a public library

Now that the library I work for (Canterbury Public Library in New Zealand)
has bought Mallory's "In search of the Indo_Europeans", what should I
suggest to buy now? I'd like an intersting follow on (preferably
"Indo-European for dummies" but I don't think it has been written yet :-)

I'd like something not too technical about the language and linguistic
methods. A quick look at Amazon suggested the following:

American Heritage dictionary of Indo-European roots by Calvert Watkins. 2nd
ed. (NYP - 14 Sept 2000)

Encyclopedia of Indo-European culture. eds Mallory and Adams.

Comparative Indo-European linguistics : an introduction by R. Beekes.

Are there any other books on IE that would be better? What do you think of
the books I have listed? Suitable for a public library?

I also noted:

From the steppes to the seas : Indo-European and the Indo-Europeans (NYP -
Aug 2000)

Anyone know about this book?

I'm happy to say that "In search of the Indo-Europeans" has been read by
people other than me.

Thanks for your help.
