Perhaps I'd throw them all away if *to stood alone and if there weren't scores of independent correspondences involving PIE *t. The demonstrative pronoun takes a free ride on more secure equations. Plus, it's part of a larger pronoun system involving genders, numbers and cases, and there are good correspondences involving the whole ststem or a large part of it. This additional evidence makes up for the weakness of *to.
