background. "Waller" is etymologically more than ambiguous.
The most naive and probably incorrect guess would be that it
is derived from English 'to wall', but from you've told me
about yourself so far, your family has Jewish and East
European roots, and "Waller" may be a reshaped Slavic name.
Do you happen to know what its spelling was a few
generations ago?
