Sergei,I agree about early Indic presence in the North Pontic region (which, combined with the undisputably Indic character of the Mitanni/Hurrian loans, seems to force us to assume a rather deep date for the separation of Indic from the rest of Indo-Iranian (Iranian as well as residual "basal" groups which evade dichotomic classification) -- 2000 BC at the very, very latest. I'd be greatly interested in those Indic loans in Slavic. Which lexemes do you have in mind, and what's the evidence for their being specifically Indic? There's a book by Oleg Trubachev dedicated to this matter. Unfortunately, I can't put my hands on it now and wouldn't dare provide you with examples recalled at my own risk. Fortunately, these examples are distributed among other works of the same author, some of them being in my private library. I'll try to find them, but I can't promise.P.S. I'm finishing collecting tons of material on gud-; the situation seemes to be even more complex than I could expect. And, there left just one last book for me to read, and I'll be able to post something on gintaras. I'm finishing also Zalizniak's and Dybo's books dedicated to Slavic accentuation (the last being the most ambitious effort to FULLY reconstruct Slavic accentuation system since Stang's opera on the point) to tell you something about dolog.Sergei
