Can anyone define "archaic Chalkidian script"? (found on pot sherds during excavations outside a megalithic place ofworship atop Mount Ocha, near Palaiochora, Euboia, Greece..)

Rex:

Chalcidian (= Chalcidic, opposed to Ionic) is the western variety of the Greek alphabet, characteristic of Euboea and the Greek colonies in Italy. It's supposed to be the variety from which the Etruscan writing system developed. From the end of the 5th c. BC onwards the Milesian version of the Ionic alphabet was granted official status in Athens and began to oust more archaic varieties from use in Classical Greek.
