It has been suggested that Elamite was linked with Dravidian.
Certainly Protoelamite remains have been found as far as Shah el Shoktr
on the Pakistan-Iran border and at Sialkh. Elamite seems one of an
extinct family of Zagros languages including Lullabi, Guti, Subartu
(Around Ashur) and Kassite). From what I understand Sumerian seems a
little further away.

Regarding your second point - I am not usre where Etruscan fits in,
except Glen keeps talking about Indo-Etruscan and PIE. Does this mean
that Etruscan lies midway between PIE and the Steppic group (including
Proto-Uralic-Yukaghir?). You'll have to ask this one of Glen.
