The Penguin edition of Wolfram von Eschenbach's Parzival insists on locating Parsifal's home turf in Wales -- in Great Britain. Nope. It's in Switzerland. And, if you take the train from Geneva to Zurich, there is a wonderful ruined castle on the way through Valais that could just as well be that of Montsalvat. The confusion of Wales and Wallis may be one of the factors that lead to the grail legend becoming attached to the Arthurian cycle.
