It depends on what particularly he's interested in. I would suggest one of
these:

1.J.P.Mallory and D.Q.Adams (editors): Encyclopedia of Indo-European Culture
2.J.P.Mallory, In Search of the Indo-Europeans
3.R.S.P.Beekes: Comparative Indo-European Linguistics

The first one is the best choice. It costs 145$ at Barnes and Noble. I
didn't know these books until Mark Odegard told me to read them first before
I discuss. It was a good advice. There's everything in the Encyclopedia and
it's a pleasure to read.
