If you take into account the fact that there was also the Hittite name of
the mothergoddess, Hannahanna, who also has a part of her myth where she
vanishes and earth turns dry, that may well be a point for the origin of the
goddess (Inannas name is also from a Sumerian substratum language, I read)
to go back to early Anatolia, from where she might have entered the Western
Semitic area...
