My "touw>tooi" (cord>ornament) ideas suggest that the corded ware beaker
cultures in N-Europe spoke Germanic or Balto-Slavic & that the bell beakers
in W-Europe, which are derived from the corded ware beakers, spoke
Celt-Italic. So IMO Germanic is closest to its geographic neighbours:
Celto-Italic & Balto-Slavic (in your list: 3, 4 and 6). (But Germanic
underwent perhaps more substrate influences than the others.) --Marc
