<<I'm not sure in what other branches cognates of *kent- survive. Perhaps other Cybalist memebers could help.

Piotr and me have found a Celtic cognate of *kent-  :

[Alexander]
<<P.S. Looking through the dictionary I still have found a cognate to Greek kenteo: given by a professional linguist (Erich Berneker, 1908-1913): Cymric cethr 'spike, nail'.>>

[Piotr]
<<The Welsh word cethr(en) looks interesting. I have a Welsh dictionary which glosses it as 'nail, spear' -- exactly the range of meaning expected of *kent-. Welsh also has the verb cethrenu, cathrenu 'drive, goad', evidently derived from the noun. To clinch the argument we should look at the other Celtic languages, but it seems very probable that cethr is indeed the same as kentrom.>>
