This message reminds me of a story about the early days of teleprinters.
The design engineers at AT&T (apparently) concluded that the level of
development of the technology (only five code bits) didn't yet permit both
caps and small letters to be included in the design. They did some
conscientious legibility studies, and concluded that all-small-letters was
the more-readable option.

When the results of the studies were presented to the president of AT&T,
ho thought for a minute, and said, "But, you won't be able to correctly
spell the name of the Deity!" (maybe not an exact quote, but "Deity" was
in the story.) So, for several decades, all machines (afaik) were
caps-only. (Telegrams were printed onto gummed tape, which was moistened
and applied to the blank.)

Seeing the word misspelled as "diety" makes me think of the statues of
Buddha. I mean no offense; being rotund was considered to be very
fortunate, back then.
