Actually, they do have a use. If the grammar checker indicates that a
sentence is too long, or clearly cannot parse it, I take that as a
warning that it may be too complicated for my audience. Also, it - I
only use the Word one - occasionally rescues sentences that have been
overedited. Unfortunately, it doesn't indicate sentences that it
can't parse at all. I do wish, though, that one could give it hints
to help parse sentences.
