Perhaps so. It seems to me, though, that computers are as involved with
writing systems (worldwide, of course) as typestters and typewriters used
to be, and probably more so. Creating new fonts is easier, for one (not
that that has been totally a virtue). Unicode (and its competitors), for
another.
