But your statements are still uninformed. For instance, your response
indicates that you are unaware that the number of characters a font
supports is directly tied to the platform, and that a font can be
designed to work on multiple platforms with possibly different numbers
of characters supported on each platform, and also possibly far more
than 223 characters on both Mac and Windows. (Technically, the font has
one or more cmap table, each associated with a particular platform; the
cmap tables can use different formats supporting various numbers of
characters, but both Mac and Windows can and currently usually do use
cmap formats that support 65K or more characters.)
