I used to have "The Devil's Dictionary" as a bookmark; it must be online.
When I was using my dialup shell account, <nbodley@...>, still
valid, btw, Unix [fortune] (message of the day, MOTD) would fairly often
put up a quotation from TDD.

Truly interesting is that I read (more accurately, scanned) Doug's comment
quickly, and experienced for myself, for the first time I know of, the
ability to ignore transpositions within a word. It wasn't until I looked
back, and caught the parenthesized words, that I realized I'd skimmed
right past the clever re-spelling. I'm pretty well convinced that
different people perceive text by different processes. (Where are the
real-time brain-imaging researchers on this matter?)
