There is a stability policy in Unicode (and ISO/IEC 10646) that states
that no character name can be changed once it has been assigned.
Apparently there are some software processes that depend on the
stability of the character names (although as a software guy, I can't
imagine why software that requires this wouldn't use the numeric code
points instead).

So if you write to the Unicode Consortium asking that certain character
names be changed, they will politely reject your request.

There is no harm in adding an informative note in your commercial
product with the reconstructed name, as long as you don't represent it
as the official Unicode character name. This might also be done, for
example, to add the Inuktitut names for Canadian Syllabics (because the
Unicode names don't always correspond to Inuktitut usage).
