Undisputedly the best way to learn a language. I hope that goes
well for you! That is one reason I was considering Sinhalese. The
second best way to learn a language is to read lots of it, which
really is our only option with Pali.

That's why I would like to wait awhile before I pursue anything
else. I am also considering learning Thai. I wonder if somebody
might comment on the connection there? Less similar I think than
Sinhalese but still very many connections.

My first interest in Therevada Buddhism came out of the Thai
tradition, so I have always had a notion to visit there. There are
also great texts in the Thai tradition that it would be great to
read in the original language.
