Hello All,
I am new to Pali and Theravadan Buddhism. I now have a teacher
who is a Thai monk. He is teaching me Pali while teaching me
Anapanassti meditation (Bhikkhu Buddhadasa was his teacher). I am so
excited about learning both. I am finding it difficult, however, to
have the time to learn Pali methodically. Can someone offer
suggestions on what a streamlined method to learn Pali?
Bhikkhu Sawai, my teacher, gives me chants to recite in Pali with
their English translations below. I would like to dig deeper into
analyzing meanings of words, etc. I am also having difficulty knowing
the pronunciations of words.I am learning many with a Thai twist.
I guess it just come down to the "grunt work" of memorizing
alphabet(consonants, vowels, etc.).
I am also a visual/auditory learner. I have to see it and hear it to
learn effectively. Any CDs available?
