Dear Stephen,

SH> Does anybody have a copy of Margeret Cone's Dictionary of Pali to hand ? I
SH> would like to know what the latest thinking is concerning the compound
SH> "dhamma-anudhamma-pa.tipatti".

There's only first volume, A-Kh, published.

In the 'anudhamma article it is written:

"1. natural state or essential property; right method; method
according to the dhamma, to the doctrine; ... It 81,13
(dhammaanudhammapa.tipannassa bhikkhuno aya.m anudhammo hoti
vayyaakara.naaya)"

In the 'anudhamma.m' article it is written:

"... ifc see dhammaa-, yathaa-; anudhamma-caari(n), mfn., following the
(right) doctrine; living in accordance with the doctrine; S II 81,23
(tathaa pa.tipanno ca hoti anudhammii); Sn 69 (dhammesu niccam
anudhammii); Th 373 (dhammasa hoti anudhammii);..."

SH> Also, while I'm asking, what is said about
SH> the "amaraa" in "amaraa-vikkhepa-vaada". Thanks in advance.

"amaraavikkhepa, m. (constant) equivocation, prevarication; shuffling
to and fro"

"amaraavikkhepika, mfn. (one) who equivocates; who gives evasive
answers; who cannot be pinned down"

Best wishes,
Dimitry
