MAIL OPERATIONS CENTER ********************** Welcome to the Pali Mailing List on Yahoo! Groups. Our Vision ++++++++++ Pali-centric, Nikaya-focused Guidelines for posting ---------------------- 1. Inclusion of Pali sentences in messages. As a Pali group, it is common to find Pali sentences in our messages. This is typical for the study of Pali language and grammar. For the Pali sentences to be readable with the simplest computer technology, members should use Velthuis encoding for typing Pali. It is also understandable that members quote from the Pali Tipitaka or other sources in their messages. In such cases, it is in the interest of all members that English translations are provided too. Where Pali quotations are used in messages, members should also include the following: (a) the name of the source in Pali, including the sutta title and number, and the name of the nikaya or volume from which the sutta/text is found; (b) a suitable English translation, and the author of the translation appropriately credited (includes title, publisher/weblink, and date of publication, where applicable). When quoting from another source, members should avoid spamming with massive chunks of irrelevant texts.
