The root is *bher-. The stem is *bher- or *bhere- or *bhi-bher-(e)-,
etc. If you're talking specifically about the root *bher- "to carry",
it only occurs in the present system (no aorist, no perfect), and can
be either thematic (present *bher-e-ti, imperfect *(h1e-)bher-e-t) or
athematic (*bher-ti, *(h1e)-bher-t).
