Howdy!

Years ago, a partial list of Ilich-Svitych's Nostratic roots (twenty-five in all) was posted online, translated by Mr. Carrasquer Vidal. For a while now I've wanted to put up a page on my homepage, something of a "Nostratic for Dummies" (alongside an "Indo-European for Dummies", etc.)

Bomhard's book is already in English so I don't have to translate, and it's only $30 (US) thru amazon.com. Unless somebody has a used copy they could let go cheap or even Xerox copies of the work.

I'd like to post a concise list of the roots, probably just the root itself and its meaning, without etymology. This is because I'm concerned about copyright issues, plus I'm more interested in introducing people to Nostratic and how it might sound. Also, my current RPG project involves a constructed language, "conlang" for short, based on Nostratic.

I already have Dolgopolsky's preliminary list, about 120 roots in all. I've become more interested in Bomhard's hypothesis, mainly because his roots conform to IE in the "glottalic" stage better. (Dolg. has his voiceless ejective and his voiceless non-ejectives mixed up.)

If this has been done already, please lemme know and I won't worry about it.
