I hope I am not violating any rules of this list. I have not used yahoo groups in ages, and just reactivated my account for the sole purpose of joining, because I am searching for others interested in aquiring the language of Old Norse.

I think it would be interesting to start an online community and presence for this ancient language that is similar to what i see for very new languages, for example, Lojban. And to otherwise, create a centralized location, or hub, for a particular standardized dialect of Old Norse.

I have some ideas on how to make acquisition as painless and rapid as possible. To that effect, I have started a github project, and I would like to invite, anyone at any level to help out. I am only a very beginner myself. Another goal of this project, is advocacy. Why learn Old Norse? And why this particular variety?  Basically, I want to follow the model of what new computer languages typically do, in this regard. For now, I concieve that we will use the GitHub wiki to post such articles.

I am also looking for samples of sounds, with text, and meaning, and even video. I think it would be cool for new comers to be exposed right away to useful phrases and sounds as they learn, the orthography and grammar.

I'd also like to start an IRC chatroom, like what I have seen in the lojban community.

Please checkout what I am doing, and pitch in, in any way you feel:  https://github.com/LordBrain/OldNorseHub

Feel free to write to the wiki page, message me if you need some permissions, and I will make sure  you get them. Also, if you wish to share some sound files intended for me and this project, there is a folder in the files section of this yahoo group called 'OldNorseHub' that can be used as a sort of drop box, or you can just email them to me.

PS: If there is already an IRC chatroom, please tell me what it is called and what network it is on, Thankyou.
