Snorri stóð upp og bað menn klæðast. Og er þeir voru klæddir þá tóku þeir
vopn sín og fóru níu
Snorri got up and bade his men get dressed. And when they were dressed then
they took their weapons and went nine

er betra þykir. Þið
Arnkell answers, “Here I can decide it well because here shall each do that
which seems better.
skuluð hlaupa heim og vekja upp fylgdarmenn mína og munu þeir koma skjótt
til móts við mig
You shall run home and wake up my followers and they will come quickly to
meet with me
en hér er vígi gott í stakkgarðinum og mun eg héðan verjast ef þetta eru
ófriðarmenn því að mér
and here is a good stronghold in the stack yard and I will hence forward
defend myself if these are hostile men because
þykir það betra en renna. Mun eg eigi skjótt verða sóttur. Munu mínir menn
koma skjótt til móts
to me it seems better than to run. I will not quickly be attacked. My men
will come quickly to meet
við mig ef þið rekið drengilega erindið."
with me if you pursue the errand bravely.”
Og er Arnkell hafði þetta mælt hófu þrælarnir á rás. Varð Ófeigur skjótari.

And when Arnkell had said this, the thrall took to his heels. Ofeigr was
quicker. He was so
hræddur að hann gekk nálega af vitinu og hljóp í fjall upp og þaðan í foss
einn og týndist og
