words or wasn't sure if I had found them.

Þorgrímur goði spyr nú athæfi Búa og atferði en sakir þess að hann hafði nær
höggið honum í
Chieftain Thorgrim asks now (about) Bui’s behavior and conduct for the sake
of this that he had nearly slain him

drápi föður hans þá gerði hann nú eigi til hans og hefir þetta nú svo liðið
nokkura stund.
in the killing of his father then he did not do (it) to him and this has now
lead thus to a rather (difficult) exertion (situation).

8. kafli
Þess er nú getið einn tíma að Örn austmaður kemur að máli við Kolla bónda.
This is now said (that) one time Orn the Easterner comes to speak with
farmer Kolli.

Hann mælti svo: "Hér horfði til þess Kolli," sagði hann, "að hér mundu verða
góð híbýli og það
He spoke thus, “Here (it) turned to this, Kolli,” said he, “that here would
be a good household and

eina leiðir af þér til er vel er. En það má þykja mikil ófyrirsynja er
þessir tveir menn hafa vanið
it results from you (that?) it is good. But it may seem a lack of foresight
when these two men have diminished?? (your household?)

hingað komur sínar og þykir mér það þolanda ef illa skal vera að Búi hafi
slíka meðferð en hit
(in) their coming? hither and it seems to me suffering if evil shall happen
that Bui has such intercession than

óhræsi er þar situr og hlýðir til tals manna þá er eg é enda kljáður að þola
það lengur."
the filthy fellow who sits there and listens to those men’s talk when (Z) ‘I
can bear it no longer.’”

Kolli segir: "Hér vil eg að þú hafir þá meðferð er þér líkar."
Kolli says, “Here I want that you have then intercession when you please.”

Þenna sama aftan bað Örn svein sinn taka vopn þeirra og ganga með suður úr
túni og bíða sín
That same evening Orn bade his servant to take their weapons and go south
out of the field and await him there.

þar. En með því að þys var mikill en margir menn bjuggust þá gáfu öngvir
menn gaum að
But since that noise was great then many men were getting ready, then young
men pay no attention to

Austmanni hvert hann gekk. Sneri Austmaður þá suður um holt það er þar var.
Sátu þeir þar tveir fyrir Kolfinni.
the Easterner, where he went. The Easterner turns south then through the
wood that was there. They two sat there awaiting Kolfinn.

Eftir leikinn gekk Kolfinnur út að vanda og fór leið sína. En er hann kom
suður af holtunum
After the games Kolfinn went out to make difficulties? and went on his way.
But when he came south of the wood

hlupu þeir Örn austmaður upp og sóttu að honum. Kolfinnur varðist með
lurkinum og barði
they, Orn the Easterener (and his servant) jumped up and attacked him.
Kolfinn defended himself with ?? and smote

vopnin fyrir þeir. Varð þeim hann torsóttari en þeir hugðu. Og er þeir höfðu
saman átt um hríð
(with his) weapon before them. He was more of a problem than they thought.
And when they had quarreled some time together

sló Kolfinnur sveininn í rot. Hraut þá frá honum bæði skjöldurinn og
sverðið. Kolfinnur greip þá
Kolfinn slew the servant in the commotion? Then both the shield and the
sword flew from him. Kolfinn picked up both of them.

upp hvorttveggja. Sótti hann þá að Erni austmanni og lauk svo að Örn féll en
Kolfinnur varð sár.
Then he attacked Orn, the Easterner, and it ended thus that Orn fell, but
Kolfinn was wounded.

Í því raknaði sveinninn við og vildi Kolfinnur ekki gera honum meira. Gekk
hann þá leið sína.
The servant ?? in it and Kolfinn did not want to harm him more. He went on
his way then.

Sveinninn sá Austmanninn veginn. Skaut hann þá yfir hann skildi, gekk síðan
heim í Kollafjörð.
The servant saw the Easterner slain. He divided? a corner of cloth then
over him, afterwards walked home to Kolli’s Fjord.

Kolli lét flytja heim lík hans og búa um eftir siðvenju.
Kollin had his body carried home and prepared (it) in accordance with
custom.
