shunned them and these Norwegian warriors stood not far from Vatto’s house
and they asked

Kvægganssyni. Hann heillaði þessa hermenn, ok lǫgðu á þá, at þeir trúi ǫllum
þeim orðum es hann sagði.
Kvaeggan’s son. He (had) enchanted these warriors and because of that, they
believed all those words which he said.

“Ér þurfiðat þess, at heyra nafn hans,” segir Víga-Óbívan.
“That is not necessary for you to hear his name,” says Slayer Obiwan.

“Vér þurfum eigi þess, at fregna nafn hans,” segir hermaðr.
“We don’t need this, to ask his name,” says (the) warrior.

“Þessir eru eigi þeir þrælar, es ér sœkið,” segir Víga-Óbívan enn.
“These are not those thralls which are sought,” Slayer Obiwan adds.

“Þessir eru eigi þeir þrælar, es vér sœkum,” segir hermaðr.
“These are not those thralls which we seek,” says (the) warrior.

“Hann fær farit frjáls,” segir Víga-Óbívan.
“He is able to go free,” says Slayer Obiwan.

“Hann fær farit frjáls,” segir hermaðr.
“He can go free,” says (the) warrior.

“Haldið it áfram á leiðina,” segir Víga-Óbívan.
“Keep going forward on the way,” says Slayer Obiwan (Move along. Nothing to
see here.)

“Haldið it áfram, haldið it áfram,” segir hermaðr.
“Keep going forward, keep forward,” says (the) warrior.

Lúkr kvað, “Ek skynja eigi, hversu vit kómum undan.”
Luke said, “I don’t understand how we escaped.”
