And when Olaf ended his speech then good applause was made and (it) seemed

Ólafur kom heim til búðar sagði hann bræðrum sínum þessa tilætlan. Þeim
fannst fátt um og þótti ærið mikið við haft.
Olaf came home to (the) booth, he told his brothers thisplan. They were
little pleased about (it) and (it) seemed more than enough.
Eftir þingið ríða þeir bræður heim. Líður nú sumarið. Búast þeir bræður við

After the thing, those brothers ride home. Summer passes now. Those
brothers make ready for the feast. Olaf pays out
Ólafur til óhneppilega að þriðjungi og er veislan búin með hinum bestu
föngum. Var mikið til

tólf hundruð. Þessi veisla var hin skörulegsta að öllu og fengu þeir bræður
mikinn sóma og var
twelve hundred. This feast was the most imposing of all and those brothers
got great honour and Olaf was
Ólafur mest fyrirmaður. Ólafur gekk til móts við báða bræður sína um
fégjafir. Var og gefið öllum virðingamönnum.
the greatest excelling all others. Olaf went to meet with both his brothers
regarding the gifts. And all men of distinction were given (gifts).
Og er flestir menn voru í brottu farnir þá víkur Ólafur til máls við Þorleik
bróður sinn og mælti:
And when most people had gone away then Olaf turns to (the) affair with his
brother Thorleik and spoke,
"Svo er frændi sem þér er kunnigt að með okkur hefir verið ekki margt. Nú
vildi eg til þess mæla
“So is, kinsman, as is known to you that between us hasn’t been much (love
lost). Now I would want to say this
að við betruðum frændsemi okkra. Veit eg að þér mislíkar er eg tók við
gripum þeim er faðir

Now Olaf receives
Bolla syni Þorleiks. Þá var hann þrevetur. Skiljast þeir nú með hinum mesta
kærleik og fer Bolli
Bolli, Thorleik’s son. Then he was three years old. They part now with the
greatest affection and Bolli goes
heim í Hjarðarholt með Ólafi. Þorgerður tekur vel við honum. Fæðist Bolli
þar upp og unnu þau honum eigi minna en sínum börnum.
home to Hjardarholt with Olaf. Thorgerd receives him well. Bolli is
brought up there and they love him not less than their children.
28. kafli - Af Ólafi og Þorgerði
Ólafur og Þorgerður áttu son. Sá sveinn var vatni ausinn og nafn gefið. Lét
Ólafur kalla hann
Olaf and Thorgerd had a son. That son was sprinkled with water and a name
given. Olaf has him called
Kjartan eftir Mýrkjartani móðurföður sínum. Þeir Bolli og Kjartan voru mjög
jafngamlir. Enn
Kjartan after Myrkjartan his grandfather on his mother’s side. They Bolli
and Kjartan were almost the same age.
áttu þau fleiri börn. Son þeirra hét Steinþór og Halldór, Helgi, og
Höskuldur hét hinn yngsti son
They had yet more children. Their sons were called Steinthor, Halldaor and
Helgi. And Hoskuld was the name of the youngest son of Olaf’s.
Ólafs. Bergþóra hét dóttir þeirra Ólafs og Þorgerðar, og Þorbjörg. Öll voru
börn þeirra mannvæn er þau óxu upp.
Bergthora was the name of Olaf’s daughters, also Thorgerd and Thorbjorg.
All those children were promising when they grew up.
