Melkorka kom brátt á fund Ólafs sonar síns. Ólafur fagnar henni með allri
Melkorka came soon to a meeting of Ólafr (ie came to visit (see) Ólafr), her son. Ólafr welcomed her with all

friendliness (affectionately). She asks very many (a thing) of (about) Íreland, firstly regarding her father and her other kinsmen.

Ólafur segir slíkt er hún spyr. Brátt spurði hún ef fóstra hennar lifði.
Ólafr relates such as she asks (ie answers all her questions). Soon she asked if her nurse was-alive.

Ólafur kvað hana (acc, refers to the nurse) að vísu lifa. Melkorka spyr þá hví hann vildi eigi

Þá svarar Ólafur: "Ekki fýstu menn þess móðir að eg flytti fóstru þína af Írlandi."
Then Ólafr answers:Men (persons) urged not that, mother, that I convey your nurse from Ireland.

"Svo má vera," segir hún.
(It) may be so, she says.

Það fannst (finnast) á að henni þótti þetta mjög í móti skapi.
That was noticed that this seemed much against her heart (ie it was clear that she was not amused)

But when Ólafr had been during the winter in Iceland and when spring came, then they, father-and-son, speak (roeða, Z1) about their plans.

"Það vildi eg Ólafur," segir Höskuldur, "að þér (dative) væri ráðs leitað og tækir

Ólafur svarar: "Lítt hefi eg það hugfest hér til. Veit eg eigi hvar sú kona

Höskuldur segir: "Til þess munum vér ráða að bera þetta mál upp."
Höskuldr says: ‘To this (end) (with this in mind?) we will resolve (ráða, Z6) to bring this matter up.”
