Not 'as if': 'he was a very old man, but as strong as he was
in youth'.

> Hann kenndi Anakni at berja sem menn frá Jeðifjörðum,
> He taught Anakinn to strike as men from Jedi Firth

In context it seems likely that <berja> here is intended
more generally, more like <berjask> 'to fight'.

> En Jóði vildi aldregi aptr fara ór eynni Dagóbu.
> But Yoda never wanted to go back out of the island Dagoba.

This must be <aptr> (5) 'again' in Zoëga: 'But Yoda wanted
never again to travel from the island Dagóba'.

> Hann var allra manna fríðastr, þeira er fozk hafa á
> Íslandi;

> He was of all men the most handsome, of those who have to
> do with Iceland.

<Fozk> is from <foða>. It could be either 'born' or
'brought up', but since Anakinn grew up on Dagóba in the
Faroes, it must in this case be 'born': he was the
handsomest of all men who were born in Iceland.

> eptir sem verit hafði Kvæggan.

> Anakinn var hverjum manni betr á sik kominn,
> Anakinn was in better shape (than) any man,

'Anakinn was better accomplished than any man': see <kominn
á sik vel> at Zoëga s.v. <kominn>.

<Þurfa> is 'need': '... and need you this disposition not'.
(I.e., this temperament does you no favors.)
