Þá mælti Höskuldur: "Svo hefir (hafa) nú til tekist (takast) að þetta mun verða kaup okkar.
Then Höskuldr spoke: ”Thus (it) has now happened (ie it turns out, see takast til, under taka, Z12) that this will be our bargain (we’ve got a deal).

Tak þú fé þetta til þín en eg mun taka við

Síðan gekk Höskuldur heim til búðar sinnar. Það sama kveld rekkti (rekkja) Höskuldur hjá henni.
After-that Höskuldr walked home (back) to his booth. That same evening Höskuldr slept with her (at least for part of the night).

En um morguninn eftir er menn fóru (fara) í klæði sín mælti Höskuldur: "Lítt sér (sjá)

Síðan lauk (lúka) Höskuldur upp kistu eina og tók (taka) upp góð kvenmannsklæði og seldi (selja)
After-that Höskuldr opened up (see lúka upp, Z5) a chest and took (gathered) up fine women’s-clothing and gave (it)

Konungur sá (sjá) við honum og mælti: "Tekið mundum vér hafa

The king looked at (see sjá við, Z6) him and spoke: We would have taken (accepted) your greeting,

Höskuldur þótt þú hefðir (hafa) nokkuru fyrr oss fagnað og svo skal enn vera."
Höskuldr, even-though you had welcomed us somewhat sooner (earlier) and (but) so (it) shall still be.’
