Snorri goði brosti (brosa) að og kvað þetta fyrir munni sér svo þó að margir heyrðu:
Snorri (the) priest-chieftain smiled at (it) and declared this in a low voice (see under munnr, Z1) thus, even-though many heard (it):


Vel kann Skafti skilja,
Skapti knows-how-to separate (break-up),

skaut Ásgrímr spjóti.
Ásgrím shot with (the) spear.

Villat Hólmsteinn flýja,
Hómsteinn wants-not to flee,

vegr Þorketill nauðigr.

Hallur af Síðu mælti: "Allir menn vita hvern harm eg hefi beðið (bíða) um lát Ljóts
