Þaðan fór hún á fund Leifs bróður síns og bað að hann gæfi henni hús þau er hann hafði gera látið á Vínlandi.
Thence she went to meet Leif, her brother, and asked him to give her the houses he had had made in Vinland.

En hann svarar hinu sama, kveðst ljá mundu hús en gefa eigi.
But he replies the same (as before) he will lend but not give.

Sá var máldagi með þeim bræðrum og Freydísi að hvorir skyldu hafa þrjá tigi vígra manna á skipi og konur umfram.
These were the agreements/plans between the brothers and Freydis they were each to have thirty men - fighting fit in his/her ship and women in addition.
[worth noting vigr- spear but vígra - in good fighting condition (Z)]

But Freydis broke that  at once and had five extra men and hid them but the brothers did not become aware of it until they had reached Vinland

Now they put to sea and had discussed it before that they would sail together if it was wanted, and this was nearly the case (ie.not far from it - nearly done)

But the Brothers  had come early and carried up their goods/ possessions to Leif's house

But when Freydis came to land (her lot & Co) they unloaded their ship and carried up it's goods and possessions to the (same) house

Þá mælti Freydís: "Hví báruð þér inn hér föng yður?"
Then said Freydis "Why did you bring your stuff in here"

"Því að vér hugðum," segja þeir, "að haldast muni öll ákveðin orð með oss."
Because we thought" they say "that it will hold  all agreement you had with us"

"Mér léði Leifur húsanna," segir hún, "en eigi yður."
"To me, Leif loaned these houses" says she "not to you two"

Þá mælti Helgi: "Þrjóta mun okkur bræður illsku við þig."
Then said Helgi "We cannot be equal with you in wickedness"
(lit. we brothers fail with your wickedness)

Now they carry out their goods and made for themselves huts away from the sea and on the shore of a lake and fenced off well.  But Freydis had wood felled for her ship

Nú tók að vetra og töluðu þeir bræður að takast mundu upp leikar og væri höfð skemmtan.
Now it turned to Winter and the Brothers said they would take to games and would have entertainment

Thus it went for a while until it was that men contended  together

And then discord happened and they ceased their games and no one came between (visited??) the huts and it went so for the long Winter.

Then it was one morning early that Freydis got up and dressed but did not put on her shoes, the weather had changed - much dew had fallen

She took her husband's cape/cloak and went in (to get her shoes??) and after that she went to the huts of the brothers and to the door,

And one man had  come out just before and the door was closed half-way

Hún lauk upp hurðinni og stóð í gáttum stund þá og þagði. En
Finnbogi lá innstur í skálanum og vakti.
She opened the door and stood in the doorway and was quiet.
But Finnbogi lay in the innermost (furthest from the door) of the house and he woke up.

Freydis - now are we supposed to mind that much - whether she has shoes - or that she went back for them or whatsoever - she seems very spiteful - and sly - another Hallgerð belike !!
What is the point of concern - that she has footwear - if I have that translated correctly - it sounds a tad tautological
Any Critique welcomed
