Sheesh! I must be loosing it. I thought I had already sent this long ago!
I had some trouble with this section and Alan has sorted out my problem with
stinga, but still there were other difficulties.

After that he went outside. But when he came to the door of the booth, he
turns back into the booth. Then his eyes opened.

Þá mælti hann: "Lofaður sért þú guð, drottinn minn. Sé eg nú hvað þú vilt."

Then he spoke, "Praised be Thou, God, my Lord. I see now what you want."

After that he runs back inside of the booth until when he comes before
Lyting and hews

Lýtingur fellur

with an axe into his head so that it stood (as deep as the) hammer and pulls
the axe to him. Lyting falls

áfram og var þegar dauður. Ámundi gengur út í búðardyrnar. Og er hann kom í

closed back up and he was blind for all (the) ages since.

After that he had himself guided to Njall and his son. He tells them of
Lyting's slaying.

"Ekki má saka þig um þetta," segir Njáll, "því að slíkt er mjög ákveðið en
viðvörunarvert

"(I) cannot blame you concerning this," says Njall, "because to such is
greatly appointed? but worth warning (about) ?

ef slíkir atburðir verða að stinga eigi af stokki við þá er svo nær standa."

stand so close."

Síðan bauð Njáll sætt frændum Lýtings. Höskuldur Hvítanesgoði átti hlut að

Afterwards Njall offered compensation to Lyting's kinsmen. Hoskuld
Chieftain of Hvitaness had a part with Lyting's kinsmen

veittu frændur Lýtings Ámunda tryggðir.

people went into a truce and granted Lyting's (and) Amundi's kinsmen truce.

People rode home from (the) Thing and now (everything) is quiet for a long
time.

Valgard the grey came out (to Iceland) that summer. He was then a heathen.
He went to Hof to Mord his son and was there during the winter.

Hann mælti til Marðar: "Riðið hefi eg hér um byggðina víða og þykir mér eigi
mega

He spoke to Mord, "I have ridden here around the wide settlement and it
seems to me not possible

And I came to (the) Thingskalathing and I saw there our booth all broken
