'ragnarök' is "doom of the gods". 'regin' "gods", 'ragna' "of the
gods". But 'rök' has various other meanings: "wonders, marvels" or
"reason" or "origin"...

'stór rök' "great marvels"
'forn rök' "great things of yore"
'tíva rök' "the life and doings of the gods"
'þjóða rök' "origin, creation of mankind"
'í aldar rök' "at the end of the world"
