This section seemed to go pretty smoothly, but I couldn't find a couple of
words. It is interesting that dreymt is impersonal in the same way we say
"It rained."

Kolskeggur mælti: "Hvað hefir þig dreymt frændi?"

Kolskegg spoke, (literally) "What has dreamt to you, kinsman?" (What did
you dream?"

"Það hefir mig dreymt," segir Gunnar, "að eg mundi eigi riðið hafa úr Tungu
svo

"It has dreamt to me," says Gunnar, "that I would not have ridden out of
Tongue (with) so

fámennur ef mig hefði þá þetta dreymt."

few men if to me had this dreamt then."

"Seg þú okkur draum þinn," segir Kolskeggur.

"You tell us your dream," says Kolskegg.

"Það dreymdi mig," segir Gunnar, "að eg þóttist ríða fram hjá Knafahólum.
Þar þóttist eg

"It dreamed to me," says Gunnar, "that I seemed to ride forward near Knafa
Hills. There I seemed

sjá varga mjög marga og sóttu þeir allir að mér en eg sneri undan fram að
Rangá. Þá þótti

to see very many wolves and they all attacked me but I turned away forward
to Rang River. Then seemed

mér þeir sækja að öllum megin en eg varðist. Eg skaut alla þá er fremstir
voru þar til er

to me they attack on all sides but I defended myself. I shot all those
which were foremost until when

þeir gengu svo að mér að eg mátti eigi boganum við koma. Tók eg þá sverðið
og vó eg

they went at me so (furiously) that I might not reach with the bow. Then I
took the sword and I ?

með annarri hendi en lagði með atgeirinum annarri hendi. Hlífði eg mér þá
ekki og þóttist

with one hand and laid (into them) with the spear in (the) other hand. I
did not protect (M & P have "with my shield") myself then and I seemed

eg þá eigi vita hvað mér hlífði. Drap eg þá marga vargana og þú með mér
Kolskeggur en

then not to know what protected me. Then I killed many of (the) wolves and
you with me, Kolskegg, but

Hjört þótti mér þeir hafa undir og slíta á honum brjóstið og hafði einn
hjartað í munni sér.

(it) seemed to me they have Hjort down and tore his chest and one had (his)
heart in his mouth.

En eg þóttist verða svo reiður að eg hjó varginn í sundur fyrir aftan bóguna
og eftir það

But I seemed to become so angry that I hewed the wolf apart behind the
shoulder and after that

þóttu mér stökkva vargarnir. Nú er það ráð mitt Hjörtur frændi að þú ríðir
vestur aftur í Tungu.

(it) seemed to me the wolves fled. Now is my advice, kinsman Hjort, that
you ride west back to Tongue.

"Eigi vil eg það," segir Hjörtur. "Þótt eg viti vísan bana minn þá vil eg
þér fylgja."

"I do not wish that," says Hjort. "Though I know (the) direction of my
death, then I will (still) follow you."

Síðan riðu þeir og komu austur hjá Knafahólum.

Afterwards they rode and came east near Knafa Hills.

Þá mælti Kolskeggur: "Sérðu frændi mörg spjót koma upp hjá hólunum og menn
með vopnum?"

Then Kolskegg spoke, "Kinsman, do you see many spears come up near the hills
and men with weapons?"

"Ekki kemur mér það að óvörum," segir Gunnar, "að draumur minn sannist."

"It does not come to me to ??," says Gunnar, "that my dream is true."

"Hvað skal nú til ráðs taka?" segir Kolskeggur. "Eg get að þú viljir eigi
renna undan þeim."

"What plan shall (we) take now?" says Kolskegg. "I think that you wish not
to run away from them."

"Ekki skulu þeir að því eiga að spotta," segir Gunnar, "en ríða munum vér
fram að Rangá

"They shall not have it to make fun of," says Gunnar, "but we will ride
towards Rang River

í nesið. Þar er vígi nokkuð."

to (the) nose. There is some fighting."

Ríða þeir nú fram í nesið og bjuggust þar við.

Now they ride forward to (the) nose and prepare themselves there for (it)."

Kolur mælti er þeir riðu hjá fram: "Hvort skal nú renna Gunnar?"

Kol spoke when they rode forward nearby, "Where shall (you) run now,
Gunnar?"

Kolskeggur mælti: "Seg þú svo fremi frá því er sjá dagur er allur."

Kolskegg spoke, "Speak you of that not until when this day is over."
