I would imagine that you are very close to it Grace - but it looks to be a Farmer's or Crofters dwelling, the like of which Bergthora and Hallgerð would have considered to be small.
I have always visualized the dais - as being well inside the large Hall and up at the top end - across the width of the hall as it were.
I find this hard to say really but the more private quarters were probably behind the dais as I "see" it and doubtless in the times of Njal et alia  there would have had to have been some separate quarters for the ladies of the house

I gather the built-in bench on the left is the dias that the women sit on
(and also that people would sleep on), but where would the benches and table
be set up and which are the innermost seats that seem to be places of
honour? Are the innermost seats at the center of the long axis of the
house nearest the fire?
