Time for some more Modern Icelandic! This time
it is a really, but deceptively, simple poem
by poet Steinn Steinarr, who was one of the first
"modern" poets in Iceland. The students will have
no problems with the vocabulary here, I dare say!
This is one of Steinarr's best-known poems, one
that most Icelanders have seen at some time or
other. It comes from the volume called "FERÐ ÁN
FYRIRHEITS" (1942):

STEINN STEINARR: UTAN HRINGSINS

Ég geng í hring
í kringum allt sem er.
Og innan þessa hrings
er veröld þín.

Minn skuggi féll um stund
á gluggans gler.

Ég geng í hring
í kringum allt, sem er.
Og utan þessa hrings
er veröld mín.
