I had a lot of trouble with the part of Chapter 25 until I realized it was a list - virtually of who begat whom, I wish we took that kind of idea seriously - I can go back to my great-grandfathers but not more

"Göngum þá," segir Höskuldur, "til búðar Gunnars og greiðum af höndum féið."
"Let us go then" says Hoskuld "to the booth of  Gunnar and pay out of (our) hands the money

They went to the door of Gunnar's  booth and called him out, he walked out from the door and men with him (with some of his men)

Höskuldur mælti: "Nú er að taka við fénu."
Hoskuld spoke "Now it is for you to take this money"
Gunnar mælti: "Greiðið nú þá. Eg er búinn við að taka."
Gunnat said "Now pay it - I am prepared to take it

Þeir greiddu féið allt vel af hendi.
They paid the money all well out of hands  (does it mean they counted it)

Þá mælti Höskuldur: "Njót þú nú sem þú hefir aflað."
Then Hoskuld says "Enjoy you now as you have earned" (i.e. unjustly)

"Vel munum vér njóta því að sönn er fjárheimtan," segir Gunnar.
"Well can we enjoy because the claim was proved" says Gunnar

"Illa mun þér launað vera." segir Hrútur.
"Ill (luck) will be to you a reward" says Hrut

"Fer það sem má." segir Gunnar.
"That goes as it may" saus Gunnar (i.e. what is to be will be)

Hoskuld (and his brother) wenthome to their booth, and was to him very affected (? upset) and spoke
to Hrut "How can we on Gunnar ever avenge(for ourselves) this unfairness

"Eigi mun það," segir Hrútur, "hefnast mun honum víst og mun oss verða í því
engi hefnd né frami. En þó er það líkast að hann snúist til vorrar ættar um
vinfengið."
"That will be" says Hrut " avenged on him indeed  but we will not get the vengeance or fame (CV)
for it" But, although (? just the same) he will turn himself  to our kin for friendship"

Hættu þeir þá talinu.
With this they ended their conversation

Gunnar sýndi Njáli féið.
Gunnar showed Njall the money

Njáll mælti: "Vel hefur nú vegnað," sagði hann.
Njall says "Well have you now ?achieved

"Og hefir af þér til leitt," segir Gunnar.
"And I have because of you" says Gunnar

People rode home from the Thing and Gunnar had for hmself  great honour from the suit/case

Gunnar - gave/turned over all (completely) the money to Unn and wanted none for himself but declared more support would be thought  ( for him) afterwards from her kin than from other men
Hún kvað það svo vera.
She declared that to be true

(Got into a tangle there)
