This idea of similarities between Germanic and Celtic continental
cultures is discussed well in 'Barbarians Speak' by Peter S. Wells
[2001]. The main point of the book is how the 'barbarians' influenced
the Roman Empire, but in discussing Gaul there is a lot on that topic.
Keep in mind, this book is largely from the perspective of an
archaeologist and university professor (which is how I came across it --
I took some of his classes, some of the best I participated in).
