"Hvað munu þeir vilja?" sagði Hrútur.
"What (do you suppose) they will want?" said Hrut.
"Engi hafa þeir erindi enn upp borið fyrir mig," sagði Höskuldur.
"They have none (as to an) errand moreover stated? for me," said Hoskuld.
"Við þig munu þó erindin," segir Hrútur, "þeir munu biðja Hallgerðar eða
hversu munt þú svara?"
"With you will nevertheless will (the) errand (be)," says Hrut, "they will
ask for Hallgerd and how will you answer?"
"Hvað þykir þér ráð?" sagði Höskuldur.
"What seems to you good counsel?" said Hoskuld.
"Vel skalt þú svara og segja þó kost og löst á konunni," segir Hrútur.
"You shall answer positively and tell fairly the good and the bad of the
woman (Z)," said Hrut.
En í þessu tali þeirra bræðra ganga þeir út gestirnir. Höskuldur og Hrútur
gengu í mót
And in this talking of those brothers, they, the guests (nom.?)went out.
Hoskuld and Hrut
went to meet them
þeim. Fagnaði Hrútur vel Þórarni og þeim báðum bræðrum.
Hrut welcomed Þórarinn and invited those brothers (to come in).
Síðan gengu þeir allir samt á tal og mælti Þórarinn: "Eg er kominn hingað
með Glúmi
