the bound which is used when we are bound by an oath - can bindast be used in that - can we not feel as if bound by an oath or promise though no chains be used in fact, is that also expressed by bindast

Literally "if I let myself be bound (tied, wrapped up)" or "if I have
myself bound..." In this context though, it's arguably more natural
in English to do as Benjamin Thorpe did, and translate 'bindast' as
"be clad" (=be clothed/dressed) [
