west?"

Hrútur mælti: "Segi hún til ef hún hefir sakagiftir nokkurar við mig."

Hrut spoke, "She tells (me) if she has any problems with me."

En þær urðu engar upp bornar við Hrút. Þá lét Hrútur eftir spyrja nábúa sína

Mörður mælti: "Heim skalt þú fara og una vel við ráð þitt því að honum ganga
öll vitni betur en þér."

Mordr spoke, "You shall go home and be well content with your lot because to
him go all (the) witness better than to you."

Síðan reið Hrútur heim af þingi og kona hans með honum og var nú vel með

Now it drew near to the time of the Thing (Z). Unn spoke with Sigmund Ossur

"This (reason) I ask you to," says she, "(is) that I have held you (to have)

Hann svaraði: "Gera mun eg þér kost á þessu. Þú skalt ríða vestur með mér

She promised that. Afterwards they ride to (the) Thing.

Mörður mælti: "Hvað segir þú mér frá Hrúti félaga þínum?"

Mordr spoke, "What say you to me of your partnership with Hrut?"

Hún svarar: "Gott má eg frá honum segja það allt er honum er sjálfrátt."

She answers, " Good may I speak of him, that all which (happens?) to him is
his own fault??"

Mörður varð hljóður við og mælti: "Það býr þér nú í skapi dóttir að þú vilt

Mordr was silent at that and (finally) spoke, " It bears on you now in mind,
daughter, that you wish not to be sensible? unless?

nema eg og munt þú trúa mér best til úrráða um þitt mál."

( couldn't sort this out at all) I and you will believe me best to help

Þá gengu þau á tal þar er engir menn heyrðu þeirra viðurmæli.

Then they went to a talk there where no men heard their conversation.
