Hello Stefano
May I offer what I have found in C/V Ulf is wolf kreppa is "straits"
and the way they put it   page 668

"úlfa-kreppa u, f. 'wolf-strait' when the sun is surrounded by four mock suns"
and of courlse solar means then as it does now - of the sun
frá would be from I do not have a translation or other wise of Gylfaginning
but the Wolf=strait speaks to me of an illusion that the  sun is in danger
ir the weather might turn foul
this is as much as I could find hope it is of use

Subject: [norse_course] úlfakreppa

Hi all,

I am in trouble because I can't find any translation of "úlfakreppa".

I know that it's also a current modern icelandic word, but I can't
guess what it means.
It is also in Gylfaginning, 12: "Frá úlfakreppu sólar".
Could somebody please help me?

Thanks in advance,

Kveðja
Stefano
