Depending on the system you have  - for example - Windows  XP and some of the older programs - some of them you hold Alt + 0240  and get ð   or Alt and  0254 for þ  the usual names are as follows
þ is "thorn"   and    ð is "eth"   your keyboard should have some keys with numbers on at the extreme right of the keyboard - use then for this purpose

Also you need the Character Map and to find this on Windows  -
click on start, then All Programs - then accessories - then system tools, and on that you shoud have Character Map.
Because Accessories and System Tools open up  new windows
When this is done and you get your Character map life becomes easier you have all the Alt codes
That is how it worked for my Windows and in getting the Character map you can put a short cut on your Monitor Screen and there you are it is instantly accessible when you select a letter that you want - say æ  you should get the words - keystroke Alt+0230  in the bottom left hand corner and you do that Alt with 0230 from the keys at the right hand side and æ - is what you get
Sounds long winded but it aint - and once you get your character map it is easy peasy - lemon squeezey - that's windows,
Whew - I hope this helps

Does anyone know how to create the "þ” and “ð” characters in Word or html  (in case your wondering, I cut and pasted these from another document, but that’s tedious)?
Also, what are the actual names of these characters?  Thanks.

cheers.
