"Skyldur honum": related to him: connected by kinship or marriage.
"Skuldbundinn honum": bound to him by debt or obliged to him.

Válaði or misery (poverty) also seen as volæði

that seems good Uoden, fine, but then it has been said that Eyvind did take him out of poverty so there may be an obligation to serve, to show gratitude both as a Kinsman and an obligation
Thank you for this interesting reply

Hi there,

Some guesses:
"FáSkipt-inn": Few dealings (he the one): I reckon loner rather than
quiet describes the man as "þögull" is quiet.

StýriMann you name that on that steers (the rudder) or a Steerer ?

"Finnast fátt um" or show little interest

Býður: or invites

"Skyldur honum": related to him: connected by kinship or marriage.
"Skuldbundinn honum": bound to him by debt or obliged to him.

Válaði or misery (poverty) also seen as volæði

"Haldið sem sjálfan sig" : kept as him self (as the one were him
self)

Þetta bragð : This favor/treat (vinarBragð is favor of friend)

Hafa uppi á e-m: find the one you seek: here hafa uppi: was talked
about (in discussion)

"Og alþýðu rómur" : and the voice of the common people

At færi væri hans líkar: probably: færri væru hans líkar:
Fewer were in his likeness
"Fáir eru hans líkar" or Few are like him or few are similar to him.

Hope this helps

Thanks Uoden
